Dig the best score out of a 5×5 plot of letters.
The basics
- Each word you spell is a worm. Drag across letters that touch (diagonals count), then press and hold the worm or tap Submit Worm.
- Tap the last letter to remove it, or the worm's face to clear it. Tap a finished worm to edit it.
- Each letter fits in just one worm, and longer worms are worth far more.
- When you're done, Submit Plot. Unused letters turn to dirt, worth 0. Every plot can be finished with no dirt.
Wriggler and Hard mode
🪱 Wriggler (the default) takes everyday words. 🔥 Hard takes every valid word. Switch by tapping the mode badge under the title.
Hints
Hints are free. The line above the board shows the longest worm you can still make and 🧭 the best score still possible. More live in 💡 Hints, in the ? menu. Play a whole plot with live hints off (⚙️ Settings) and your score gets an asterisk, like 28*.
Ranks and the Wyrm
Grub → Baitworm → Earthworm → Nightcrawler → Worm Wiz 🧙. Ranks climb as you near the plot's best score; match it to be a Worm Wiz. Tap your score to see what each rank needs.
Find the Wyrm 🐉, the longest worm in the plot, and it turns gold.
Every day
A new plot arrives every day at midnight, and they get harder through the week, Monday to Sunday. Missed one? Find it in the Archive. Want more? Dig a Random plot. Play each day's plot on the day to build your 📅 streak.
Worm Search (an extra game)
Want a different challenge on the same plot? Tap Worm Search at the bottom of the page (or under Play more in the ? menu) and hunt for the hidden worms instead of filling the plot.
- Choose Quick (worms of 5+ letters, about half as many to find) or Full (every everyday worm of 4+ letters). They keep separate progress.
- Letters can be reused in different worms, so you won't run out of room.
- Valid words that don't count toward the total (unusual words, and 4-letter words in Quick) are still accepted and collected as bonus finds ✨.
- The 💡 hints work here too, and also show how many worms of each length you've found so far.
- Finish ends the search and shows the worms you missed.
